Dimension rebooks Nitro 2001 from XOC Podcast

As part of the "Re-booking of Nitro 2001" segment from the Extreme Odd Couple Podcast, this is my entry with the talent roster both, Steve Corino and I drafted. To listen to the segment, head to http://www.xocpodcast.com/ Episode #11.

Keep in mind, the scenario is - WCW has nothing left, ECW is about to shut down and the Independant talent was very strong. Corino and I are given the abilty to "raid" both rosters and we split via Nitro and Thunder. Corino has already released his Thunder. This would be the kick off show for Nitro.

Nitro

(Cold open) - Mike Tennay is in the ring, Welcomes everyone to the new Monday Night Nitro. While some things change, some things remain the same. On Tonight's show, WCW will crown a new Heavyweight Champion – the Championship board of directors has announced the two contenders are Diamond Dallas Page vs Booker T. That match will be tonights main event.

At this time, I would like to introduce a true Legend in WCW, a man who has a long history in this great sport. Terry Funk - Terry Funk comes out in a suit, saying how he’s happy to be home in WCW. He feels that the future is bright. This is where he belongs…He spent his last few years kissing ass up in New York but has also been helping some young, hungry hard working wrestlers in Philadelphia…that believed in their hearts that they had what it takes to become the best. (cut off)

(Cue Hennings music) Curt Henning with Mike Sanders

Curt Henning – saying that what Terry was doing in Philadelphia was far from wrestling…it was an embarrassment. Curt Henning made Professional Wrestling the perfect sport, while Terry Funk was on garbage duty. He then tells Terry…go back to the bingo hall…and retire…Funk calls Henning a Yellow Bellied Egg sucking dog….Mike Sanders sneak attacks Funk.

(Cue Music) “Man in a box” hits…here comes Tommy Dreamer running out …all 4 are fighting, Funk on Henning…but it separates into Sanders vs Dreamer…bell rings..we are underway.

Dreamer vs Sanders – (9 minutes) lots of brawling, back and forth..and weapons. Let Sanders establish he blongs and can hang with some extreme spots. Dreamer hits his “Dreamer-flow” (with the hopes that Raven would return sometime down the line) DDT, Ref counts, 1,2…Henning pulls ref out of the ring…back to 4 way brawl. Sanders and Dreamer are both bleeding…Funk pulls out a plastic bag…tries to put it over the head of Henning…Heels out of the ring…Dreamer and Funk in the ring…they hug.

Commercial break

Opening shot at someone’s legs (pans over to the duffle bag), with a duffle bag next to them…there is a mask on top. You hear, in a Mexican dialect “Time to return to my roots”…the hand grabs the mask…cut to ring.

(Camera on Announcers table) Big Sal E Graziano and Tennay are the broadcast team – Mike Tennay says that mask looks familiar. Big Sal says this music sounds familiar.

Southern Comfort vs. Whipwreck & tajiri w/ James Mitchell

(10 minutes)– Chris Hamrick & Tracy Smoothers are working their way down to the ring. Their opponents – Mikey Whipwreck vs Tajiri w/James Mitchell

Smoothers and Hamrick do chicken shit heel spots. Tajiri and Whipwreck are playing to the crowd. Hamrick does his through the 2nd rope spot. Tajiri hits the tarantula, hand spring back elbow, mist, Brainbuster on Hamrick.

Back stage, sit down interview with DDP – Page discusses what the WCW title would mean to him, very humble. Getting a late start, he loves WCW and would work hard for the people. Self high 5

Homicide vs Super crazy (6 mins)– this is early Homicide with brawling vs high flying Super crazy. Super Crazy over. After the match…Rey Mysterio (Now wearing Mask) music hits…Super Crazy is in the ring. Mysterio says he respects Super Crazy, next week…he would like to face him in a for an entry position in the Junior heavyweight championship fatal 4 way match in 3 weeks. Crazy accepts….Sal and Tennay say in 3 weeks..we will be crowning a new Junior Heavyweight, with a Fatal 4 way match….winner takes all

Lance Storm vs Christopher Daniels (20 minutes)– the announcers talk about how both are the future of this sport. Text book wrestling clinic. Back and forth match up. 20 minute draw. They say, next week…they want to go again…

Backstage sit down interview with Booker T – says, he is owed the title. He’s done his time…he has been champion before…he will be again.

The announcers say Next Week – Dreamer & Funk vs Henning & Sanders…no DQ….it will not be for the faint of heart. Big Sal says he was never a fan of Dreamer, maybe it's time for the fans to accept that Extreme is dead.

Tag Match (12 minutes)– York & Matthews vs. Shannon Moore & Shane Helms w/Jamie Noble – Moore & Helms are the heels. York & Matthews play to the crowd. Both teams are strong tag teams, utilizing tag team style moves. Helms distracts the ref, Knoble passes a chain to Moore…Moore over on York. Sal and Tennay talk about how young the tag team division is…but also how well they work well together.

Commercial

Main Event (18 minutes)– Booker T vs. Diamond Dallas Page

Booker out first….Self high 5 hits DDP out…this match could determine the future of WCW.

DDP takes the early advantage. DDP teases for the Diamond Cutter several times, Booker is too smart. Booker cuts off with a reversal into the corner…Booker T is working the back of DDP. Booker T feels the title within his grasp…Booker heads to the top rope for his Ghetto Blaster…DDP stumbles into ropes..nuts Booker…DDP goes for the superplex…pushed off…Booker T off the top rope…DDP with a diamond cutter on Booker….1,2, Booker T gets his foot on the bottom rope..ref doesn’t see it..3. Celebration ensues…crowd goes crazy…

Sal points out the foot on the rope…we’ll see you next week.

Dimension gets Jerky...Sizzle chest!

This week, I had a chance to give The Jerky Boys Podcast show a call. Being a fan since 1994, I could not wait to talk with Johnny Brennan. Some people will instantly know Brennan from his work on The Family Guy as Mort Goldman, having been a part of the Hugely popular show since the start in 2001.

I have been listening to the newly launched podcast since the start and it brings back some fond memories of long trips, just laughing my ass off while I'd drive. From Frank Rizzo to Jack Tors, but my favorite character from Brennan has to be Sol Rosenberg. Sol (pictured left) captures the innocence of an older man, who always seems to end up in trouble.

In addition to asking Brennan some questions about the Jerky Boys past, I ask him to play Sol's Mishap....easily my favorite bit. Sol has a firecracker go off in his hand...and hilarity ensues.

My Stoogeum Visit - Don't Be a Lame Brain!! You gotta go!

So many afternoons in front of the television spent with my 3 friends...sure they were stooges but, we shared a lot of laughs. Still today, you can stumble across some form of 3 Stooges on Tv, from the many, many shorts, to possibly an appearance on Scooby Doo (hey, I try not to miss an episode).

I was completely shocked, as you might have heard on our XOCPodcast (www.xocpodcast.com) when I found out about the 3 Stooges Museum, what was even more of a shocker...it was 2 minutes from my House!! The Stoogeum is tucked in a small business area of Spring House, PA, maybe 20 minutes from Philadelphia. From one Stooge to another...it is well worth the trip.

I head out with @BroccoliRob11 who has become a bit of a fan of the Stooges hyjinks too. This is a Free museum, but runs by your donations. Trust me when I say, it was clean, family friendly and well worth the trip.

A 100 seated Theater with classic 3 Stooges short films playing all day long. Movie Memorabilia from every era, every stooge. From the early Ted Healey days, to the bitter end of a an amazing legacy. Everything from lobby cards to Puppets. Video games, that are free to play...(of course I had to try my hand at some Stooges pinball!!). You can retrace the history...look at their contracts, uncashed checks....photos of all kinds.

Regardless of your knowledge of 3 Stooges, chances are, you have sat and watched them in some form. Currently, on http://www.crackle.com/ you can watch the made for Tv movie, The Three Stooges, which isn't 100% factual, it gives you an idea on how much they did for the love of laughter. Thats the key here folks...Laughter. Grab the Wife, bring the kids and head out to the the Stoogeum...or I'll poke you in the eyes!!

Scream 4 - New Decade...New Rules

This past weekend, I finally gave in....and watched Scream 4. I, like many others LOVED the original Scream. I felt that it made fun of the genre, it wasn't afraid to poke some fun, wasn't afraid to establish rules AND break them, it also helped launch some great careers for those involved. The unfortunate part, it spawned 2 more sequels that got worse and worser...(I know...not a word, but they were pretty bad)

I had heard mixed reviews on Scream 4, that might have played a part in me dragging my feet to view this one. Getting some of the original cast back together is a plus and Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson back at the helm, certainly makes me have some hope. Staring at the box art, it seemed like I couldn't hold out forever, I finally pushed "add to #1 position", 2 days later and I'm ready. I was so afraid of this just being a last attempt at cashing in on the "Shitty Horror Train".

All aboard....

Without giving a play by play of Scream 4, let me give my thoughts in a spoiler free review. I really liked this movie, regardless of hearing other's opinions. The "cool trend" is to openly bash commercial releases, especially sequels and remakes just don't fit here. This film mixes fresh faces with some familiar faces that have some Hollywood pull. You have cameo's by Kristin Bell, who I fell in love with from Fanboys, plus Anna Panquin, of True Blood fame (which lost me after Season 2..haha). Plus, the regular cast of Neve Campbell who returns to Woodsboro to promote her book. Dewey (David Arquette) and Gale (Courteney Cox) are there...but we see some of Sidney's family pulled into the mix. Kind of a passing of the torch.

They introduce Emma Robert (with some star power family bloodlines in Julia Roberts & Eric Roberts) as Sidney's cousin Jill. Jill, plays the perfect victim..she's small, frail and cute. Hayden Panettiere is her friend, who looks HOT with short hair, but who do we start to suspect amongst the mix? Lot's of murder, twists, mixed in with typical Scream comedy...makes this a winner.

Will everyone like this? Probably not, but I felt this was a great return to where it began. Good writing, simply Ghostface phone calls, that always make me smile, plus everyone plays the roles great. I would recommend this one, especially if you liked the original.

My Recommendation - Definitely a Dvd buy. It has some rewatch value. I would watch part 1 and be satisfied with jumping to part 4. I'm good without the Cotton Weary continuation, without the extra nonsense from part 2 or 3. I really do like the Stab franchise mixture though.

* My recommendation system - I rate movies on a system - A Combo purchase (The Blu Ray, dvd and Digital download) being the best and simply watching it on Tv, or even passing being the bottom of barrel. Instead of rating it by stars, I think judging how much time or money we spend on a film, means much more than just stars.

High Scores Arcade is my Graceland!!

Being middle aged (I'm 41, eat bad and hate working out...so reaching 80 is a stretch) the days of visiting the classic arcades is something I miss a lot. Walking into dim lit happiness, the sounds of quarters dropping and the joyful shots being fired by Galaga are memories from yesterday...or so I thought!!

I had caught wind of an arcade in Burlington, NJ (which is about 30 minutes from my house) made this a journey of EPICNESS. On Friday, I grabbed Kim (@KimDimension) & good ole' Broccoli Rob (@BroccoliRob11) and set forth on any gamers destiny to High Scores Arcade...to become one with game (cue Star Wars Imperial March music).

High Scores Interactive Arcade is nestled in a very nice business district, amongst rows of small, personable businesses. The place is small, so driving by, you can miss it, but honestly...it's perfect. Upon walking in, I hear Star Wars Cantina disco remix, I'm thrust instantly back to my early teen years and my pocket that is holding my $6 in $1's, feels the need to find the change machine.

I snoop around a bit, while Kim heads directly for BurgerTime and Broccoli Rob looks for Donkey Kong in hopes to dethrone the likes of Billy Mitchell or Steve Weibe. I seek the owners and meet Shawn and Meg, who are extremely nice and genuine. They give me the tour, showing my some of these treasures, while my mouth waters, plus..what I enjoyed, was how each game had a personal story behind it. Shawn, see's Broccoli Rob's interest in Donkey Kong and offers him a lesson, which was awesome. He explained the levels, insider tips and gave him some hope. Meg, was showing off her skills at Star Wars, saying she was "pretty good, but some of the best players in the world have mopped the floor with her scores".

This is the part I enjoyed the most...in today's economy, it's important to find some entertainment that is fun, cheap and has something to offer everyone in the fmaily. High Scores Aracde is just that...very family friendly. The games are classic, at classic prices...25 and 50 cents per play. The staff is friendly, knowledgable and make you feel at home. For our family...we spent $20 total and played for 2 hours. You simply can not beat that...it was a blast. Such a blast in fact, we went back on Saturday night and played another 2 hours.

How long was the Time Loop?

As I sit and look for something to watch, Groundhog Day pops up. A fun, fantastic film that everyone enjoys. When others discuss time travel in relation to Back to the Future, the time parodox discussion often passes over Groundhog Day...not any more.

A cult classic comedy/drama starring former Saturday Night Live Alumi, comedic icon Bill Murray. In the film, Murray plays Phil Connor's, a disgruntled weatherman sent to Puxatony, PA to cover the Groundhog Day festivities. Unfortunately, Phil is forced to relive the same day, getting stuck in a time loop.....but for exactly how long?

First, let's get to know the term Time Loop - Used mostly as a plot device in Science Fiction (Doctor Who and Tru Calling used Time Loops), creating a reoccurence/restart in time, after a few hours or maybe a day (as used in Groundhog Day) with most losing memory of what happened. In Groundhog Day, everyone surrounding Phil Connor's had no retention of the previous day's events. This allowed him to basically have free reign....learning skills, re-watching events and even cheating death.

BING!!!

Director Harold Ramis, on the Dvd commentary, estimated the time loop as "about 10 years", then after an article on Wolf Gnards added to the discussion, Ramis came back with a follow up statement of 8 Years, 8 Months and 16 Days. I should also add, the number 10,000 years has been thrown around by Ramis also, but that seems too farfetched. Can I accept that amount? Is it possible Phil Connor's could learn to play the piano, become a master ice sculptor and become fluent in French in just over 8 years?..........Let's look.

Rules I am using for calculation - Once a skill is learned, in order to maintain that skill, Phil would have to work approx 1 hour per day to maintain said skill. While he wakes up everyday, everything is restarted, his past day experience is NOT. He would still recollect everything from the prior day (not like 50 First Dates). If Phil makes a passing comment about something, I will take his comment into account. There will be plenty of days where I think his focus was geared to one particular accomplishment.

In the film itself, there are 36-38 days depicted, depending if some of the same events occured on the same day. A slap could have occured the same day as a Ned Ryerson interaction happened. It's not like he restart as soon as his day went array, he was forced to live the day, with each day starting at 6am. +38 days

Let's look at his events:

Suicide - Phil attempted suicide at least 7 times, as he was quoted "I have been stabbed, shot, poisoned, frozen, hung, electrocuted, and burned." So who know's how much more creative Phil was during his darkest days. I'm going to round up to 10 days of Suicide. +10 days

Piano Playing Expert - It shows Phil going for Piano lessons, paying for time, but the exact amount of time was never determined. Let's say Phil had 0 piano experience, which seems logical. After doing some research, piano playing is based on Grades (Levels). The rough guess is to play Beethoven from scratch would be roughly 7-10 years. Let's figure Phil played 4-5 hours per day to learn (it would be based around how much money the instructor required to put in a full day of lessons), so I feel comfortable with roughly guessing with Phil became a master player in 5 years. Now, this assumption is that Phil learned more than just one song, he strived to achieve. - +5 years

Throwing Playing Cards Expert - Phil makes a passing comment to Rita, that to become an expert at throwing playing cards into a hat would take - “Six months. Four to five hours a day, and you’d be an expert.” So, I'm assuming that this was the highlight of Phils day, not worrying about much else. I might even say this occured during the "Connor Dark Days" of self loathing and depression. - +6 months

Ice Sculpting - This one is tricky. To become an expert in anything is tough, to Ice Sculpt is even harder. The guess would be 10,000 hours, based on experts recolection of time spent to master the art. So, let's say Phil was able to deal with the cold, and he spent 3 hours per day learning his new found art, and he went to learn everyday, in a row, with no skipping, it would account for 3,333 days in a row. So, let's call a safe number at 9 years, 6 months to round off the days. -

+9 years & 6 months

Speaking Fluent French - Connor's also in the film has learned fluent French. As seen, he recites a French poem flawlessly and Ramis has also said that Connor's learned the language. I took 2 years of Spanish for 2o minutes a day, 5 days a week, for 2 years and couldn't say shit in Spanish...so let'e look at how long Phil would need to become fluent. Ok, thanks to google...I found out the following :

The time it takes to become fluent depends on several things, the most important of which is whether you are living in a francophone country. If you live someplace like France or Québec for a year, you will most likely be fluent towards the end of that. If you're not living in a francophone country, it can take 5 to 10 years, or more.

The other factors are

1.Your age - the younger you are when you start, the better

2.Your aptitude for language - some people are just better at language than others

3.The effort you put into learning - if you practice every day you'll learn and remember a lot more than someone who goes to class once a week but never practices outside of class

I'm also going to assume..haha...that Puxatony is NOT Francophone country..so we will go with the latter. I am sticking with approx 8 years. Again, I'm basing this on Phil only dedicating a few hours per day, possibly working on other skills or finding a new way to impress Rita. +8 years

Now, there will be many additional days that could go unaccounted, how many days does he care for the Homeless man? He does refer to him as Dad, so was a bond made over time? I will say yes, we see at least 3 instances of them spending seperate occasions together. I would say Phil spent at least 14 days working with the old man, bonding and trying to change the eventual outcome of death, which was unavoidable.

The Movie Theater quote - Phil is seen dressed up, in what I think is a Spagetti Western outfit with a French Maid, where he see's Nancy, at the Alpine Theater to see Heidi 2 where he says "I've seen this 100's of times". Hundreds of times? Ok, so, Phil probably spent 200 days, my guess, at the movies. It would be something I would look into, if I were stuck.

The Armored Car Robbery - Phil, who has every observation down, during this segment, has obviously spent many, many hours planning this heist. From the dog barking, the car passing, the roll of quarters to Felix dropping the coins...it's all there. How many days would it take to observe this? I even asked my Wife, just to get an outsiders opinion. She says "At least 30 days", this is picking one event in your day, learning the next 3 minutes of occurances where many factors fall into play. I will go one step further and add an additonal 15 days, bring the total to 45 days to pull off a flawless bank robbery. + 45 days

Lost time - Obviously, we have lost time that go unaccounted for, times where Phil was depressed and never left his bed, I'm sure Phil spent countless hours building a database of Rita's like's and dislikes. We also learn that Phil learn's the Heimlich maneuver, he learned the medicine including to be a Chiropractor. Connor's also built a repertoire with everyone in town, that no doubt, resulted in countless hours of research plus saving the falling child from the tree, "I save you everyday and never get a thank you". Granted, this is just an overview of the time spent in the time loop...with many variables. I feel this was an additonal 3 years.

+ 3 Years

My Final Estimation - 26 years & 308 days

Thats - 9,798 days

Or - 235,152 hours

This is just a simple, non mathmatical method for a geek to enjoy Groundhog Day a little more. Hopefully, you enjoy this day and remember "I sure as heckfire remember you"...I love Ned Ryerson!

Lately, I have been watching a good amount of documentaries...you know..behind the scenes stuff, peoples opinions or an outsiders glimpse of a rival. Some succeed, some fail...after all, if I have 0 idea about the subject matter, you need to hold my interest. The nerd mood I have been in, makes choosing these titles has been easy. Granted, the subject matter of my choosing has been rather fun and somewhere along the way, these topics have been a part of my life.

The Best Worst Movie - Troll 2 has always been acclaimed as the "Worst Movie Ever Made". This film documents Cult status Troll 2 has achieved and the lives it's impacted...and it's a fun ride.

When you set out to make a film, obviously, you are hoping people watch, enjoy and help spread the word. Troll 2, released in 1989 was unleashed upon the Horror community...regardless, if we were ready of not. Having nothing to do with the original, Troll 2 has poor acting, a bad script and a slightly delusional director. This documentary exposes us to the underground movement of Troll 2 parties. Screening and the chaos that follows. The visionary Italian couple responsible makes some scenes a little uncomfortable to watch.

I liked this movie...a lot. Directed by Michael Paul Stephenson, who starred in Troll 2 as a child. It shows the lengths he goes to gather the former cast...sometimes, the "catching up" can be funny...and honestly, sad, but in the end, you will enjoy the ride. Stand out in this feature is George Hardy, a Dentist, who made the bold statement "You can't Piss on Hospitality..I won't allow it!" Hardy is a great focal point for this, he's funny, seems genuine and truly loves the attention. While I truly found Hardy a nice guy, his opinion towards the Horror community was a little off putting. Regardless, this one is for everyone who has sat through and loved a movie that's "so bad...it's a winner".

The People vs George Lucas - Let me get this right out there...I LOVE Star Wars and once a day, some form of a Star Wars quote is spoken by me. George Lucas is the mind behind my childhood, teenage an adult obsession but let's face it...Our Uncle George has messed with "The Galaxy Far, Far Away" a little too much.

This documentary is by the fans. The fans who have stood in line for the prequels, the fans who have spend thousands of dollars on Star Wars merchandise and the fans, who regardless of what others say, believe in the Force. Granted, suffering through the multi- releases in every format, those awful prequels and the constant tinkering has made us all a little mad. This documentary is Our story!

While you could say it's 92 minutes of bitching and whining...well, ok, it is. Where is the versions of the Classic's, why the constant changes? Listen and witness Lucas talk about changing, updating and moving on in the Original Trilogy, never letting us rewatch the originals, the way we remember. As we close in on 2012, I wanted to highlight some of my favorite films plus, additional highs and lows of this past year. I'm not asking for votes, no write in ballots...it's just one, simple man's opinion, who sits around and watches a lot of Tv and movies. Not very detailed, not even tons of catergories, just what I want to cover.

Best Box Set

The Basement - I really lead the promotion for this release by Alternative Cinema. Clearly listening to the fans, embracing the VHS resurgence and releasing The Basement in big box format both on VHS and Dvd. You recieve 5 films, including shot on super 8, The Basement feature plus Classic Shot on Video features : Captives, Video Violence,Video Violence 2 and Cannibal Campout. This sits, proudly displayed on my shelf (with my other VHS) and looks tremendous. This box set retails for $25 and is well worth the money. If anything can be learned from the huge success of this release...VHS is not dead.

Runner Up - Gamera Blu Ray Trilogy set - Being the HUGE Kaiju fan that I am, this Blu Ray set was a can NOT lose. Ordering this set from Amazon for the extremely low $13.00 for all 3 Blu Ray's was an absolute steal. Featuring all of the "Modern" Gamera films..including Gamera 3, which may possibly be the BEST Kaiju film ever to be released. Clear picture, yet a bare bones release so to speak, but come on...for $13.00, what can you expect? If you're a fan of the Flying Turtle, get this set!!

Tv Show of the Year

The Walking Dead - over at AMC, hands down, the best Drama involving Horror on Tv. I mean after the ending of season 1, plus the release of Frank Darabont, I had my doubts. I loved Robert Kirkman’s comics and graphic novels, his style of writing made you care about the characters (a rarity). I know the Tv show doesn’t follow the comic but, get over it. I know the zombies aren't the main focus, but here is a little secret - The SURVIVORs are the real Walking Dead. The flashback sequences are giving us a better picture on the people, plus, who hasn't thought of "Shaning" someone to help yourself survive? I enjoyed the changes they made but this year…wow…week to week, great excitement. It had tons of discussion and after only 6 episodes, with 6 more to go..it looks like zombies are here to stay.

Biggest Letdown Show of the Year - The Office

I love this show, it might be my favorite sitcom EVER!! This season seems so lost without Steve Carrel, whom I really think made a big mistake by leaving but, that is my selfish opinion. Ed Helms is a good lead, but after watching Cedar Rapids, the movie he released this year with him as the lead, I'm wondering if he can carry the ball. Mindy Kaling, who plays Kelly on the show, and has written some fantastic episodes, seems busy with other projects. They brought in Ellie Kemper's (Erin) sister to write an episode, but the episode revolved around Erin, it’s like your brother is the booker and you are the champion. Dwight and Jim characters just seem too much of the same and their antics/pranks are less funny. James Spader brought in as Robert California just hasn’t amounted to anything. This pains me, I'm the guy who runs to buy the box set the day of release..Ive bought the game…I even thought of heading to Scranton to wander around…even though its completely fictious….Yes. I think it needs some new writers, with fresh ideas. But the writers need to know the characters…I really hope it can be saved but, like all shows, it might be time for Dunder Mifflin to close up and file for bankruptcy.

Horror Movies of the Year

#3 - Hobo with a Shotgun – available on Netflix Instant, just a gritty, over the top camp-fest. Hobo with a Shotgun makes me smile on every level. This is a great welcome back movie for Rutger Hauer....I always think of Blind Fury or the Hitcher when I think of Hauer, but this one is a winner. Trust me when I say, It’s not for everyone, but dammit, it's for me. What started off as a trailer, just took off and became an instant cult classic. The music, the use of color in scenes, the direction, gore and soundtrack make this a MUST see, especially if you were raised on Troma. Sometimes a Hobo needs to run around shooting people with a shotgun…especially if its all they know. Loved this one.

#2 - The Woman – This one only had a small run in select theaters but gained instant recognition after several protests and boycotts, mainly from Sundance. The Woman by Lucky McKee, who I feel is going to really hit paydirt with K-Dirt (Ford Fairlane reference there...) soon and the Horror genre really needs it. McKee was the creator of cult hit, May also, that was a stand out feature a few years back. Co-written by Jack Ketchum, who is a writer that really reaches inside and twists your emotions, just watch The Girl Next Door, which is also on Netflix instant, for a complete mind screw and emotional roller coaster.

The Woman is the story that has many levels of depth. On the outside, it’s the story of a Husband/Father who stumbles upon a wild woman, while hunting and decides to help re-introduce her to society by trying to tame her. But, so much more is going on within his family circle. Great subtle soundtrack…very well shot…great acting and thought provoking story. This hits dvd in early 2012.

#1 - Tucker and Dale vs Evil – This was a late discovery for me. I had heard rumblings about this one, plus for me, personally, 2011 was a year of personal and professional growth. Tucker and Dale vs Evil really hits home for me. After finding this film, a few months ago, we discussed this on on Dimension's Horrible Podcast and tried to spread the awareness to as many as we could reach. Now, currently on Netflix Instant, this can and will be enjoyed by fans of both Horror and Comedy alike.

If I learned anything from my Hillbilly friends, I learned to never judge a book by it’s cover. The story follows Tucker and Dale, life long friends who are on their way to enjoy their newest purchase, a vacation home. Plenty of misfotune, coincidence and laughter follow these two guys. Campy, clever kills, fun dialogue and a bit of a twist ending eqaute in a must buy Dvd, Blu ray and Digital Download...yes, the Trifecta in Nerdism.

Well, that's my list...hopefully you enjoyed 2011 and here is hoping to a fantastic 2012. Personally, I could really use a great year. Happy New Year!!!

Sometimes living under a rock has it's disadvantages, I mean that figuratively, as last time I looked, I haven't completed my morphing process into Patrick Starr...but it's close. I like to enjoy a lot of the games from yesterday...not very often jumping to games designed for iPhones or the latest computer challenges. Every once in a while one sneaks under the radar and I arrive at the party a little late...case in point with Plants vs Zombies.

At my local gaming store, I, had a chance to try a demo of Plants vs. Zombies by PopCap games and was instantly hooked, so much so, I bought the PS3 version for my Wife as a Christmas gift, simply so I could play too...(don't you judge me and my motives). Available on almost every platform, from the iPhone to the Wii, to XBox 360, based around the very simple concept of protecting your home from the Zombie Apocalypse with using your gardening skills...yes...gardening skills.

With the hottest, most current craze being Zombies...I bet you will never see Daryl Dixon arming himself with a Pea Shooter on The Walking Dead, but that's where the appeal for this game comes into play. Using household items like a rake, a lawn mower...some green thumb items like a Venus Flytrap, Sun Shroom or even a Hot Tamale that will burn those undead bastards alive, make this game a complete and total blast! It's strategy based, and keeps it humorous the entire time...just don't confuse fun with not challenging...cause Plants vs Zombies gets tough.

The challenges happen both day and night, both equating into their own hindrances. You rely on the Sunlight to help your garden grow (meaning..your line of defense) but during the night time hours, you rely on your own creativity to keep the flesh eaters back. The creativity doesn't stop with you...there are pole vaulting zombies that skip your first line of defense. Zombies that use floatation devices like balloons, water floats and some even ride dolphins...yes...dolphins. They carry screen door shields, they drive a Zamboni and keep you on your toes day or night! Never have i laughed so much trying to prevent world domination.

People ask: "Dimension...what's my best line of defense?" Ok, I'm glad you asked me. I'm a fan of the Squash...his mean, aggressive look and squashing ability makes it both comical and a huge asset when things are looking bleak. The Wallnut is also another perfect "staller" as it take a bit for the pesky buggers to break this wall down. The star as an offensive weapon, tremendous, considering you can drop a bunch and set the screen on fire..so to speak.

The controls for the PS3, very easy to maintain and control. The graphics and entertainment by Crazy Dave only enhance the gameplay. This game also comes with Peggle, another fun, family pinball style game that will grant you tons of hours of gaming. Heavy Weapon is also included, but I haven't played it yet. Retail on the PS3 version is $19.99. I would recommend this one for kids and adults of all ages. Compared to many, this game is mild in violence, it's fun and nothing crude showed up. Plenty of online choices/achievements are available as well.

This past week, I switched from my Super Nintendo gaming system to the Playstation portable (PSP) system. I haven't had much use of this system, in fact...it's actually BrocolliRob11's PSP. Last week, my "Shooting 300" article/review" had HUGE views and was also carried by The press in Japan and Spain (..I know...crazy right?)

I made the decision to step out of the 16 bit world and jump into the 21st century. Normally, I can't grasp the updated systems...as I'm clearly not a Modern Warfare kinda guy...I do dabble in the World of Warcraft realm, but not too often to consider myself any kind of authority.

I packed up my family Dimension mobile with a trusty snack and visited to my local Game N Trade in Lansdale, PA. I invested a whopping $8 on a used copy of The Brunswick Pro Bowling game. Sure...$8 isn't a lot compared to the normal $60 price tags on games today, but remember, last week I spent $.89 cents on the Brunswick Tournament of Champions Bowling game for Super Nintendo...so that's like a 100 times price increase!!

Now, the release date of this game is August 2007, so again...I missed the big launch party!! That's ok, with a retail sticker price of $19.99, I doubt they were having cake and ice cream or even a midnight opening. I took a chance, sort of a blind buy on this one. Not researching at all and going with my gut (which seems to be growing due to too much Holiday eating) feeling, I was pleasantly surprised to say the least!

I don't want to give a final review yet, since I've only played for 4 days this far but, I already really like this game. It's been a while since I've had a game that I can't stop playing...and I mean...can't stop!! The game is a bit awkward to start but once you get going, you're set.

After half a day doing the "Quick Play", I opted for the "Career Mode"...I laced up my rented shoes, hopefully minus the foot fungus, grabbed my Alley ball and hit the lanes. When you start..you have 0 of anything...no money to buy better equipment, you lack arm strength and stamina and have poor accuracy. Don't let that detour you from taking down the punks who wanna bowl you. I wasn't scared, I took down a few less than credible opponent's but sometimes you need to take care of business. Without explaining "how to play" I will mention a few finer points.

Graphics - so far, great. The pin reaction and ball motion are realistic. The oil breakdown on the lanes, great. Everything looks great...when I started with the "House Ball", I seemed to do much better playing the 2nd arrow, with medium hook. Now, this doesn't always work. Sometimes the lanes are drier, making you move your feet, slow down your ball speed and hook the ball more. Other times, the oil is heavier, allowing you to play straighter (more direct) and increase your rev rate (Spin or Hook potential). Pin carry, as it plagues some of us in the real game, comes into play here. If your ball travels down the lane before it begins it's hook, you will see the EVIL 10 pin, plus, splits will rear their ugly head...but the bonus, most are makable!

So far, I only lost 1 game in the 1st League session, finishing with a 35-1 record, averaging 215. Granted, not bad with a "House Ball", but after winning my 1st Tournament, I upgraded Bowling balls..to a Groove...terrible choice by the way. Way too much hook, was far to difficult to judge the break point and get the desired carry. With my extra money, I made another Ball choice...I went with the Target Zone, Red and Bone color (the Pic is the closest I could find to a match). This ball allowed me to continue my more direct line, similar to the House Ball, but had better pin carry.

Once I made this ball change..I instantly had better scores. Finishing out the 1st round of League games with back to back 300's. In techincal terms, if you're a bowler. I had very little head belly, stood on 14 and hit 8 at the arrows...<---- kind of like Geek Speak for Bowlers. This netted the best carry percentage and flush pocket hits. Granted, in "Real" bowling, a Target Zone is a spare ball or designed for a beginner, but for the sake of me living vicariously through this game..the Target Zone is great!!

Today, I started a new League session and after my first 6 games of League...I'm dominating with a whopping 264 average. My high being a 289. I do float between the House Ball and the Target Zone depending on the oil pattern they have out. I seem to struggle during the Tournaments the most, as my opponenst get extremely lucky and improve as soon as the tournament starts. I for one, will be playing this during the Christmas vacation...but I know my Wife picked me up Tiger Woods The Masters for PS3...and I can NOT wait to play that game. Steve Corino & my REAL fear for his safety - My Opinion about Final Battle

Steve Corino & my REAL Fear for his Safety!!

My open letter to Steve and everyone else:

Several people have been asking about my opinion about this coming weekend's Final Battle for Ring of Honor Wrestling. This is my honest and real feelings, plus an inside look at Steve Corino who, in my honest opinion...still wants to prove himself. That is the fear I have...let me explain.

It's been documented by many that Corino is one of my best friends, so often people ask me about him, as a real person. Steve, while he can seem very abrasive at times, is honestly a great Father, someone who will do what he can to help (as he has stuck his neck out for many, yet will NEVER ask for anything in return) and an extremely proud person. He feels, as all professional wrestlers should, if you pay to see him perform, he will give his absolute best. He has dedicated his life to this profession, missing Holidays, losing real life friendships and having this business destroy his family life...yet, when he walks through that curtain..you would never know.

As he enters the twilight of his career, does he feel that the end is closing in? Of course he does. Does he want to end his career on a high note? Of course he does. Could Final Battle be his swan song? This is where my fear is focused. I am scared for him and what the outcome can be.

Kevin Steen, at one time, a great friend of Corino, is a legitimate lunatic. The persona he has in ring, while amped up, is really him. I was fortunate to call him a friend, I still respect Kevin..I really do. He is another guy, who would give you the shirt off his back..he has a great family. I just think, he is confused. His antics and attitude, ringside or in the heat of battle are what worry me. He feels no pain while focused.

I don't know Jimmy Jacobs, seriously...Corino speaks highly about him. We have shared a few comments via Twitter, but that's it. I was a fan of his earlier ROH work, but I have fallen away from watching much Wrestling. Jacobs, the special referee, has a world of responsibility on his shoulders. Lets look at the time, it's Christmas, both Steen and Corino want to be able to celebrate with their families...no one wants to be incapable of enjoying that. I want to ask Jimmy Jacobs "How much bloodshed do you want on your hands? How deep is your friendship?" The No DQ stipulation has only made my fears worse....my message to Jimmy Jacobs - Please, please...DO NOT let this go to far!

It's been several years since I was afraid for Steve, I use the word afraid, because this is real. When Corino battled Homicide (years ago), that was the real last time I was scared for him. The build up, the match, the aftermath for BOTH guys. Homicide and Steve have somewhat buried the hatchet, time heals all wounds...but it does take time. I consider Homicide a friend, but I know how hurt he was, I know Corino felt that match wasn't his best...I know his pride took a shot. At Final Battle, that will be on Corino's mind...he has made mention to me. He wants to prove himself to YOU.

Steve, I want to tell you...I'm proud to call you my friend. I fear for your safety. I know the real you..I know what is going on in your head. I'm the one who answers the late night text messages! Please, take care of Business...but also and most of all...take care of yourself.

As for Kevin Steen, I hope you're ready...cause if this is Corino's swan song...may God have mercy on you Both.

Well, it's Christmas time for the XOC guys and Corino and Dimension could care less...they have started the process of re-booking WCW, ECW and invading the Independent talent pool in 2001 (..way to stay current guys).

This episode is the Draft: Dimension and Corino are each given a Show (Nitro and Thunder) and must now draft to save Professional Wrestling from being over taken by the Evil Vince McMahon. Who will Corino choose? What does Dimension have up his sleeve? Who decides they will NOT work for the new bookers? It's like a Fantasy Draft...so just enjoy it!

Spending A Night with "The Boys Next Door"...wait...err...it's a Movie!!

With the Holidays approaching, everyone is reviewing Christmas movies...but not THIS guy...(I will probably review one next week..this is a phony claim that will fail to impress anyone). In a drunken Holiday stupor spree of searching for films...I stumble upon my long lost friend....The Boys Next Door.

The Boys Next Door stars Charlie Sheen, years before he had Tiger's Blood and was from Space...or whatever he claims made and Maxwell Caulfield...way before anyone could celebrate Rex Manning Day (Oh yeah, I was a card carrying member of that fan club). This duo portray Bo and Roy, a twosome that are fresh out of high school and are ready to have a killer weekend.

Before we start with my thoughts and praise of this film, I want to note that Penelope Spheeris is behind the lens for this gem. Yes, the same Penelope Spheeris that brought Waynes World into my life, yes...the same Penelope Spheeris who was responsible for The Beverly Hillbillies movie..wait, she may not want me to tell anyone. Seriously, she does an Amazing job in building suspense and uses her camera angles and lighting perfect. For the time, 1985, I look back at this and smile. One scene where Roy and Bo have crashed a Graduation party...Roy (Caulfield) is sitting pool side...staring and you can see the pain and hate on his face. Great use of dramatic music inserts also. The opening montage of Serial Killers is chilling and used properly to set the tone for this film. She knocked this one out of the park...can't believe this movie doesn't get more praise.

We get a glimpse of home life for Bo and Roy, neither are good...Bo (Sheen) is loved but seems to be an after thought, while Roy looks to be the victim of a drunken Father who probably wasn't afraid to beat his ass when provoked. Driving a primed RoadRunner, Bo and Roy decide they want to have a mini vacation before reporting to the town factory to enter adult, humdrum life....and head to California.

Roy confesses to Bo..."I have stuff inside of me". That stuff is Hate and Evil. Roy wastes no time in starting his crime spree, while Bo..watches but quickly gives into the evil joyride and partakes in his own dastardly deeds. From smashing beer bottles over old ladies heads, to killing a Gay man, even stalking and murdering a girl and her boyfriend...these guys go off the deep end. I am telling you, this movie advances one crime after another..very easily. The soul searching that Sheen expresses emotional and through facial expressions are tremendous. Plus, Caulfield is Awesome in this movie...I might even watch Grease 2 now, after this performance (ok, probably not).

With the FBI and LAPD hot on their tail, Bo and Roy have no where to run. Plus, a young Shooter MaGavin (Christopher McDonald) plays the role of the sympathetic, trying to understand detective that doesn't understand the evil. He does a good job here and they portray both sides of the Police, the rugged/gritty side, plus the guys who feel for the victims.

In Closing.....

Treat my VHS better or DIE!!

I know, this review is full of ramblings, misguided points and unfunny , unwitty drivel...I can't help it! I had this movie on VHS during my Senior year of High School (1988). I wore this video out!! I watched this so many times...easily a movie that helped shape me...kidding. I think it opened a door into horror for me, that I had never seen before. It's not a slasher film that I loved in the 80's, this was before I understood the greatness of a Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, I was only exposed to greats like Dawn of the Dead..like, Halloween...this was a fresh burst of hatred and murder! You know what would make me kill someone? See that video <---- on the left side? If someone treated my VHS like that. I would kill them too!!

This is currently streaming on Netflix, it's a MUST see...I know, you will enjoy it too..you have too...it's Christmas!! I need to re-buy this VHS..just to have it, plus Buy the Dvd...you hear me gift buyers? I NEED this! Anyways...Happy Shopping.

What is on your agenda this weekend? Well, for me...it's Christmas shopping!! Oh yeah...I'm sure it's the same for you. What do you buy for that "special person" in your life? Good question.

For me, the hardest person to buy for is my Wife...no doubt. She is always indecisive, half the time I can't even get her to decide what she wants for dinner...so you know she's tough to buy for. Usually, throughout the year, whenever we want something..we just buy it, but still..It's Christmas and I'm feeling pressured by the commercialism.

At first, I thought about a Kindle Fire...but then, I stumbled into Barnes and Nobles and discovered the Nook. While she isn't a big book reader, I think she might read more with it. Also, the biggest benefit for her, it's Netflix capable. We are avid Netflix users, so that is a plus. I also researched a bit...it seems that the Nook has removable memory, so you can swap out more if needed. The screen is a bit small than the iPad but, seems just as nice....especially being about $250 cheaper.

How about a relaxing day at the Spa? Sure, that idea popped into my head...a nice massage, treating her like a Queen..scores major points for me. I must admit, I have no idea what goes on at these Spa places...I'm assuming it's all rose peddles, aroma therapy and tea. See...no clue. She works hard, so I thought she could use A.) a day away from me B.) try to relax and relive stress. These are my thoughts...as I said...I'm still trying to figure it out.

Buying for me.....easy. I need the same stuff that an 11 yr old needs. Video games, clever t-shirts..you know..the important stuff. We had a Wii Nintendo system when they released, but sold it (too quickly) due to lack of games for a PS3. Now, I LOVE my PS3, but the Wii has stepped up their game and released a lot of fun, intercative games. So, a Wii is on my list....but, I won't be crushed if I don't get it. I even made sure to text my Wife; "Hey, deal on Wii's refurbished...only $80". You have to drop the subtle hints.

Trust me, I also added "Don't worry about the Wii Fit stuff, I don't need it" even though..I totally do. Plus, with the addition of the new Retro controller...it really makes this a no brainer buy.

Donkey Kong - Pie Factory edition for the Original Nintendo system. This is a must have for me...can you believe that someone made their own version of the Donkey Kong original release BUT they added the Pie Factory level?? How awesome is that! It retails for $28 and is released by RetroZone. Now, I have never ordered from them, so I have no idea how credible they are...but to me, it's worth the $30 risk. My biggest complaint about the original release was just the 3 boards...so this solves that problem.

That's it for now...but I'm sure by next week...something new and shiny will catch my eye and I will "NEED" it. Try to remain pleasant while shopping...just be nice, smile and remember what the Holidays really mean.

Today I thought I would give you guys a review and tips to help you achieve your dreams of one day walking amongst the best in the Super Nintendo world elite. Now, understand, that you don't get a green jacket, there is no golden ring after achieving this amazing feat...but you will have bragging rights. After all, the best pick up line to a girl is "Hey, I can bowl 300 on the Super Nintendo Brunswick World Tournament of Champions Bowling game."

If you are a retro gamer, still own a Super Nintendo and possibly spent .89 cents on one of the last produced games for the system..then it's possible that you have felt your life was lacking the ability to score BIG. I'm here to help. The Brunswick World Tournament of Champions game, after researching online, has a bad reputation as a difficult game to become great on. Poor visual effects, complex hand/eye coordination controls and more useless knowledge than you can shake a bowling pin at.

Let's take a look at the set up. Simply by pass the bio's of the Professional Bowlers, sure Walter Ray Williams Jr. might be the winningest Bowler EVER on Tour and the greatest Horseshoe throwing champion in the World...he achievements in life pale in comparison to yours...so skip him and jump to player set up.

I'm going to use the Right Handed bowler...because..well, I'm a right hander. One thing that peaks my interest almost immediately...the catchy soundtrack for this game (sarcasm). Give yourself a name...I will choose ROB. Off to a good start so far. Then when you scroll to Bowling Ball selection, go in and change your ball type to Quantum Midnight Blue. There are many Quantum's to choose from..but this one is Mine.

(Facts) When I worked at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, NV, during its grand opening year (1995) I worked for Brunswick. The Quantum bowling balls were the 1st of there kind to have a retail of $200.00 each. One of my perks for working there was free equipment, I actually had a Midnight Blue Quantum. In reality, the Midnight Blue Quantum was designed for dryer conditions, being a "cover heavy" ball..meaning that the ball's inner core was lighter than the outer shell, delaying the early hook. The track flare was minimal due to this, opposed to the other Quantums. See, life imitating art.

Next is the weight, choose 15lbs. Then, simply click OKAY. For the spare ball, it doesn't matter, what color to choose, just make sure it is a PLASTIC ball. Now your Bowler should be set. Again, press OKAY. This game is so easy so far..huh? Go back to your Main page, then head to Practice...you need to practice before you can just go flauting your skills...I mean, Greatness isn't just handed to you!

Ok, now, the Oil Pattern you will choose is Easy to start with. I will show you how to get the BEST strike percentage using this skill level, after that...it's on you to mess around with (I'm like Yoda, I can't give away all the secrets).

When stepping onto the lane, as you can see by the picture to the Left, stand with your Left foot on the Center dot. This represents the 20th board, basically you are in the center of the lane (A Lane has 40 boards across..it's actually 41 but that's a whole other nerd story). The arrow marker is just a pinch Left of the 2nd arrow. This represents the 10th board (the actually maker should be on about the 12th board), so we are playing 20 to 10 in Bowlers jargon. See, you are learning so much already.

Now, the Power and Spin functions are where simple hand and Eye cooridination come into play. The goal with the Power is to stop it centered at 12 o'clock, like straight up. Imagine the Power meter is a clock, that way the 3-6 would be blocked off (The 6 o'clock is the starting point and the 3 o'clock is the max power.

As for the Spin control, you wan t to MAX the the spin power as much as possible. The more consistant you are with this combination, the more you will strike at will. This is only the basics, you will need to fine tune your skill and ability but someday, you to can walk into any Bowling Alley, with your head held high, your name on the back of your shirt and stand amongst the Elite!

Most people instantly think of Friday the 13th when you mention Sean S. Cunningham, BUT he is just so much more than that. I have been on a bit of Cunningham kick as of late recently watching some of his other 80's efforts.

Now, growing up as a product of the 80's, witnessing films like Porky's, Hardbodies and My Tutor take over the late night airwaves. One of Cunningham's films, "Spring Break" was always one of my favorites. Sure, it won't win any awards but dammit, as for a skin, summer, fun flick...I actually like it. I will look at Spring Break another time, cause for me, a film like that requires it's own review...haha...I know, "Come on Dimension!!"

This morning, waking up early, flicking through Crackle (if you don't visit Crackle.com, you should..it's FREE and has BOTH of these films on it plus a HUGE Godzilla selection) I decided to watch "The New Kids" that was another Sean S. Cunningham outing in 1984/85.

The New Kids is not just another run of the mill...new kids come to town, then get bullied..followed by revenge flick...ok, it kind of is BUT..let's first look at the cast. James Spader, whom has been thrust back into the spotlight by guest starring as Robert California on The Office. Plus, Lori Loughlin, yes..pre-Full House with her amazing feathered hair...it is really sick, plus Lori was in one of my favorite films ever - RAD! John Philbin, who many know from Return of the Living Dead (Amazing) but was also "Turtle" in another one of my favorites..North Shore. Tom Atkins is briefly in this one..but still gives it some street cred for me.

The story, cut and dry...brother and sister are Army brats, their parents die, they move to Florida, soon to be opening "Fun Land" amusement park, where they get bullied. Things get out of control, a bloodbath ensues. James Spader plays the bully, Eddie Dutra, who is a scumbag, not on the scale of Matt Dillion as Moody from My Bodyguard, but still a scumbag and apparently an Albino (weird). Philbin plays one of his sidekicks and does a great job. Lori Loughlin does her best to keep her hair looking good....something about her, it oozes sexy (....ok, sorry). The film is a bit better than most, but still not a must see. I recommend this based on it's free to watch.

The standout features - You can tell Cunningham was coming into his own with this one. His use of subtle music was great. His lighting and camera angles were used great to build some drama or even showing typical. life. (oh yeah...I notice these things..haha). A lot of quick cuts to hide the lack of special effects on some of the kill scenes. he does use a few uneasy spots with some animal killings...never easy to watch. I was pleasantly surprised to rewatch this one and enjoy it. It's a bit gritty....it has a few lows but worth checking out. Judging by the poster art, it's possible to be fooled by thinking it would be more brutal than it is.

My overall rating - This is a rental. If you watch it and like it, then buy it. I don't know how often, even though it's currently free to watch, I will revist it.

My Own Personal Demon

You know...Steve Corino challenging me to a Bowling match has made me relive and look back at past experiences. If you do not listen to The Extreme Odd Couple Podcast, then you aren't aware of what's going on. You aren't aware of my past...well..let me share some things...

I was a Professional Bowler in the early 90's...yes..a full fledged, card carrying member. I went to PBA school in Florida and passed with flying colors. I know..crazy right? You need to go to school to be a professional bowler...well, you used too...things have changed..but back to the story.

So, for the past 12 years, Steve Corino, my hosting partner for the XOCPOdcast, has been bragging to me about his Bowling skills...and I often just laugh and ignore his challenges. Think about how often the tables are turned on him and some goof challenges him to a Wrestling match. It happens...especially when you are perceived to be good at something. My history with Bowling is a rocky road filled with Love, Laughter and Hate.

I grew to hate the game/sport..not just hate..but HATE. For so many years it consumed my life. I owned my own business within Bowling, I traveled the US because of Bowling (even moving my family cross country several times). The weekend excursions to tournaments, the bowling in 2 leagues...the pressure. Yep, pressure to always improve. You have to understand, Bowling is a personal demon for me..I'm always looking over my shoulder (I know, this sounds insane or silly) waiting to be drawn back into it......and the itch is returning.

My Wife, Kim, whom I actually met in a Bowling center, asked me yesterday "Are you going to accept the challenge?"......I looked at her and didn't have an answer. She noticed I was beginning to scour the Net looking for current information....searching for a reason to say "Yes". I made money Bowling, it supported my family for many, many years. The sport has been good to me, it made me stronger by always putting pressure on ME, no one else. It's a personal sport...not a team sport..it's all on YOU.

Now you know how deep the Challenge is going...I have stated I will make an announcement in Jan. Until then...I try to keep the Demon at bay.

Gettin' my NERD on!!

Just passing along, since I have been in NERD mode as of late, with what else has been peaking my interest. I'm a firm believer of giving credit. This is the cool thing about having this site...I can write about whatever I want!! It's can't all be Horror..not 24/7..I have other needs!! (Hey, don't judge me, I've been also watching some Springer...haha)

The Jace Hall Show - This show is easily an inspiration for my video reviews that I do. The editing style, the camera angles (I don't have the budget that Jace has..but still), the awkward looks and segments. Jace Hall released this show through X-Box, Crackle, Hulu ...so many outlets and steamrolled this into an awesome side project.

Hall, is a Television AND video game producer, having input into over 40 game titles. More importantly, Jace is an avid gamer..a self admited World of Warcraft Nerd...hey, we've all been there (on a side note..I can't wait for the new Old Republic Star Wars MMO game, due out in a few weeks...). Jace has also written gaming songs like "I play WoW" & "You got PWNED", that both make me laugh and smile everytime I hear them.

On The Radar

Since my time is often pre-occupied with the Podcasts, I have a little bit of time to write and share my thoughts( I really miss writing, I need to do it more often). I thought it might be fun to write about what I'm doing this week....so here we go.

If you listen to the Podcasts, you know I have been going crazy with Super Nintendo and the Original Nintendo Entertainment System. My son, BroccoliRob dug out the SNES and we were instantly rehooked...it's crazy how much fun the older games are..bad graphics, small glitches..I just love it.

As for the Original NES, I had forgotten how finicky that system is..yes, I'm aware, I'm under 60 and just said the word Finicky. The reset button blinks, the slight moving of the games while in the system...almost not making any sudden movements to ensure the safety of the system.

My favorite game thus far is Donkey Kong, especially because of my love for "King of Kong", that chronicles the battle between Gaming Icon Billy Mitchell and Underdog Steve Weibe. If you have not seen that film, check it out..it's fun. But, back to DK, man, what memories of playing this game in the arcade..but my biggest complaint is the board schemes on the NES compared to the Arcade system. The hammers are in different spots and it's totally missing the Bakery Conveyor belt level. I love this game though...so much so, I'm trying to talk Kim into buying a real Arcade version...imagine how little she would have to deal with me then. For those wondering my skill level...it's ok, but in time...I shall master the game. I looked up the World Record via Twin Galaxies, and it's close to 3.5 million....to me, that seems like a TON. We all have our secret missions.

On the movie watching homefront, I've been overloading on a BUNCH of different types of films..not just the standard intake of Horror but a plethora of other fun titles. Have you guys ever been followed by a movie for almost your entire life, yet you were always unsure if you liked it?

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not crazy...when I say "followed" by a movie, I simply mean, having it always pop up in unexpected places or catching it at odd times, possibly mid way throught it. That film for me is the 1981 "Neighbors" with John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. I have never been able to decide if I liked this movie or not, but last night I saw the light...well...sort of...

Synopsis - One man's quiet suburban life takes a sickening lurch for the worse when a young couple move into the deserted house next door. From the word go it is obvious these are not the quiet professional types who *should* be living in such a nice street. As more and more unbelievable events unfold, our hero starts to question his own sanity... and those of his family.

What makes this film so peculiar (Peculiar has been become one of my favorite words as of late..no reason) is the switch in character portrayals...Belushi is Earl, the everyday, normal guy with a normal wife...until Vic and his wife, the sexy Ramona move in nextdoor...almost instantly, its an awkward, uneasy film. I believe this type of humor is not for everyone...as the "awkward humor" has become more acceptible with shows like "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "The Office" laughing all the way to the bank. This film was far too early to be accepted like that.

The crazy thing about this movie...no real dvd release...nothing significant about the film can be found...are they trying to erase this movie from our database...well..they can't erase me dammit!! "Neighbors" is worth a 2nd look, no doubt. Sadly, the most talked about part of the film was Belushi's releapse into drug use, dying just 4 short months after it's release. I've never been a big John Belushi fan, Animal House was fun, his time on SNL was great but this might be my favorite film/project he has done....hey, it's my opinion and I'm the writer!!

Neighbors is on Crackle, which is a free movie site, I recommend it. Can I also say, Cathy Moriarty is insanely sexy in this film...man, a few of the predicaments she places good ole' Earl in, it would have been hard to resist. So go check it out.

MonsterMania 20 has come and gone, leaving the usually peaceful Hunt Valley, MD in ruins...well, not exactly. The Horror Convention hosted some of the greatest Horror Icons and Movie stars with names like John Carpenter, Anthony Michael Hall, Norman Reedus, Jeffrey Combs and many more. The crowd was the best yet for the NJ based convention..plus, it was a great time had by all who attended.

Hack and Danny Pickle

The Dimension Review crew, consisting of Rob and Kim Dimension, Hack the clerk and the lovable, internet movie reviewer, Danny Pickle packed up the family Dimension-mobile and headed South to kick off the Friday festivities.

I was scheduled for Saturday to host the Q&A panels, I was excited as I was penciled in for The Monster Squad reunion, The Walking Dead reunion, Joe Turkel, The ReAnimator reunion and the Hellraiser reunion...unfortunately I wasn't listed under the John Carpenter Q&A nor the Halloween one. Now, understand, John Carpenter is really THE man in my books, he created so many incredible visions and showed me what true horror was (see my Growing Up Myers article) so, I was honored to be a part of the con and still be able to be around the guests and have fun. Plus, it was my Birthday weekend, what better way to celebrate??

Hack gets frisky with Katherine

Friday night, at the Convention is always a good time. I always stress to people to grab the VIP passes, the VIP party is so much fun. Hanging out with the guests, mingling with other attendees plus seeing all of our "con family" is always great. Kim and I had such a blast, plus seeing our PA/NJ Horror Club members, it's was great. They had a Michael Myers cake, plus, if you were lucky...you could see a Michael Myers moonwalk across the dance floor (Brad Loree is always a crowd pleaser). Dave Hagan really goes above and beyond with these conventions and delivers what he promises.

I just love Saturday's except Saturday mornings after a long MonsterMania party..haha...Kim and I made our way down to the vendors room and promoted the Monster Channel, plus sold some Fear Werx merchandise. I am always amazed at the creative costumes, the vendors that go above and beyond with merchandise and service...it's such a great atmosphere. I was scheduled to start Q&A's at 2pm so I was able to be the social butterfly, plus get over to the Fright-Rags table to see Kristy Jett and her posse. I went and proceeeded to speak with Dave before the Q&A's started and said "if there is anyway I can help with the John Carpenter Q&A, please, let me know." Dave stated that he would be doing the last two panels, as he should, honestly, they are referred to as "The Main Events", plus he really does a great job. As the panels begin, I get into my groove and have a blast. I was looking forward to the 1 on 1 Q&A with Norman Reedus, who is just an awesome interview. Plus, I was such a fan of the Monster Squad film, meeting Ashley Bank and Andre Gower was a highlight. Barbara Crampton from The ReAnimator series was so lovely in person and super nice..just a great afternoon.

Finally, 7pm rolls around and Dave stops in and says "I'm going to be taking over the Hellraiser Q&A, go get something to eat....so you can get back to host the John Carpenter Q&A....Happy Birthday". I almost shit my pants (sorry to be blunt, but come on...it's the Master of Horror). So, Kim and I hurry up, grab some grub and get back....now, the part I'm leaving out is...on Friday night, I ran into Mr. Carpenter and stated "you are the reason I am here this weekend", sure he hears it all the time, he was humble and gracious, but I felt like a fanboy turd. I told Kim "I'm gonna hold it together tonight".

I see Mr. Carpenter by the door, so....here we go. I introduce him and we are underway. The Q&A was a blast. 45 minutes of pure entertainment on his part. He was honest, gave people advice and spoke from the heart. It was so awesome (yes..I'm smiling as I write this..haha). A few years ago (Aug 09') I wrote this, kind of forgot about it until recently. I started to discuss emotional attachment to Classic Horror and remembered all the real attachments I developed growing up...so here you go -

"Growing up Myers"

I was exposed at an early age to images of sleaze and exploitation. I was not white trash, my parents were never divorced and I wasn't a drop out in school. My childhood was actually filled with pleasant memories. My uncle owned a video store in the late seventies, this was my playground. When the biggest battle was between Beta and VHS format, I was enjoying my Quasar top loading video machine giving me hours of enjoyment. Pushing the play button allowed me to live, to witness visuals that captivated me and to see what true horror really was.

In the fall of 1980, at the tender age of 10 years old, I heard music that sent chills down my spine coming from the downstairs living room. My parents were watching a movie and I was told "Your too young to watch..bed time." My interest became peaked immediately, to say the least. As time went on, my imagination grew, my desire to know what they were watching was building. I crawled out of my bed, crept down the stairs and had to take a look. I peaked around the corner with one eye, noticing my Dad sitting in his trademark recliner, my Mother snugged on the couch with a blanket covering half of her face. The television set was positioned in a corner on top of a small "entertainment center" as my Dad called it, holding 2 video tapes and the player, hardly a "center". It made it hard to see what was going on, my Mother was not liking it though. Her expressions were priceless, her eyes were huge with fear.

The next day, at breakfast, I just had to know what was creating the fear. "What were you guys watching" I curiously questioned. My mother was quick to say "some scary movie that your father thought would be fun to watch". My Dad quickly chimed in with "Halloween". My mother made mention to my Dad to make sure he took that tape back because she wasn't going to watch it again. I knew I had a chance to catch a peak, but I had to be quick. I waited until they left for work, my Grandmother lived downstairs so I was within an ears reach. I looked at the video box, it wasn't scary. I thought to myself, "Mom is just over reacting". I eagerly pressed play and sat for the next hour and a half in both fear and joy.

The thought of the Boogeyman was a childhood nightmare for many. Unknowing of what exactly was in your closet or hiding under you bed. Not knowing what the Boogeyman was or what he wanted made him that much more terrifying. John Carpenter and Debra Hill hit the nail on the head with their vision. The blank face, the slow walk, the blending into shadows and of course the head tilt after killing poor Bob. Titled the Shape, Michael Myers instantly became the talk of my day, hell maybe even the talk of my month. Sharing what I just lived few friends, I raved about how scary it was, how i couldn't catch my breath. Most of my friends wouldn't have a chance to see this, if anything I felt like "King Shit" for a day. That's the feeling you have when you Know something that others can only hear about, it makes you feel a little bigger when your young.

Later in the day after dinner, my Dad took me along with him to my Uncle's video store. Located downstairs below another store, it looked sketchy, thinking back. Darkly lit, cluttered and kinda dirty is how I remember it. My Uncle was a sitting behind his counter, eating as usual. He looked like he was a permenant fixture behind there. I am not even sure how he was related, looking back, maybe he was the family "Uncle" that everyone has. They both chatted about the movie, laughing and raving about how amazing it was. I was thinking to myself "you guys are right...I loved it!!" But, I remained quiet. Instead I walked towards the section full of violent images, evil box art and scary titles. The horror section had instantly found a friend. Titles like "Dr. Butcher MD" jumped off the shelves at me. Box art for other films like "Cannibal Holocaust" freaked me out. Cannibals were only something you vaguely hear about, a movie dedicated to them seemed terrifying.

The more they talked the more I wanted to join in. Finally, not being able to withstand their enjoyment. I blurted out "I watched it while you guys were out!". They both stopped talking and just looked. This is where my Dad became instantly cool. He says, in between his chuckles, "Great, let's pick out something else then...your Mother's a wus. I can watch it with you when she isn't home". I probably had the look of both shock and excitement on my face. I thought to myself - no punishment, not mad and above all else, free reign to watch more? Where do I sign up?

The next few years were spent raiding my Uncle's video store looking for the most shocking, insane, crazy, scary, gory and down right disgusting films I could find. Titles like "Boarding House", which featured a psychedelic hand that warned "if you suffer from a faint heart, when this hand comes on to the screen, look away". Are you kidding? I couldn't look close enough. While other kids were watching family shows, I was enjoying Fulci's "Gates of Hell". Which is a whole story on it's own.

(Being from upstate New York, Fulci's Gates of Hell, also titled City of the Living Dead, actually made it's way to our small, local theater. It was probably 1981 as the date is kinda fuzzy. I remember the actual movie experience like it was yesterday though. My Dad takes me to an afternoon show, matinees aren't what they used to be. We walk in, blindly choosing this movie because I said "That movie poster looks cool", and quickly notice were are two of the four sitting in the theater. As the movie starts, it's hard to follow, but gore is everywhere. I am in Zombie heaven. The person on our right leaves, not feeling the movie at all. We are down to three viewers now. Finally the scene where the girl throws up her intestines happens, this is where the experience gets better. The guy in the back starts to get sick and bails. That sissy. My Dad even says "Jesus, what is going on here?", I had to tell him I was busy watching the movie. Gates of Hell will Always hold a special spot in my heart, probably not the ideal Father/Son moment, but I loved it.)

That same year was the release of Halloween II, more of "The Night He Came Home", I couldn't wait. Once again, my partner in Horror film viewing, my Dad takes me. This time around, he is just as excited as I am. Not knowing anything but Michael Myers is back! I remember watching the trailers on TV, freaking out about how amazing this film was going to be. My Mom just thinks we are a couple of idiots, between my love for Pro Wrestling and Horror Movies, she knows something is wrong with her baby boy.

Halloween II lived up to my expectations, probably even surpassing them. The reign of the Mighty Michael Myers was back!! Dr. Loomis shot him six times, the Shape is unstoppable. All the mayhem, the kills, the body count. But wait...maybe not, what just happened? Myers and Loomis are dead. NO!!! Michael Myers tried to fight through his fiery demise, but failed. Laurie Strode made it but Myers didn't?? I think around Halloween II is where my crush on Jamie Lee Curtis started, it was a brief crush but it was there. Becoming the Scream Queen, if she was in the movie, I had to see it. I followed her through her Prom Night and rode the Terror Train. Devastated that Myers has been defeated, I look for other replacements, sure Jason and Leatherface were still around, but they were no Michael Myers. Horror icons come and go, but the good ones you almost want to continue. It was apparent that I had to move on.

Having the "in" at the video store, I was able to snag various movie posters. Friday the 13th, Halloween 2, Happy Birthday to Me and Basket Case were scattered on my bed room walls. Pro Wrestling Illustrated center pull out posters were also prominent. What a sight my room must have been. I was witnessing the "Underground Horror Movement" first hand. With every amazing title you watch, you see an equal number of bad movies. It's part of the process. But, I was willing to pay the price. I loved the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I was even convinced it was real. I believed 100% that this was truly "based on real events". George Romero was a hero to me. While others had Football jerseys, I had Horror movies. My world consisted of madman, zombies and creatures. I loved the films that were almost so bad, they were good. The films you enjoyed to watch but made you feel dirty after you were done watching them. That was what horror was to me. Halloween really became my favorite holiday. Christmas you ask? When kids were thinking about presents and Santa I was thinking of Silent Night, Deadly Night. I was obsessed.

Towards the end of the Summer in '83, it happens. "Halloween 3 :Season of the Witch" is announced. I imagine my excitement was over the top, to say the least. "Oh my God...yes!! Myers is Back!! I knew it." Quickly, various news and early reports travel to my young ears that darken my high hopes. Rumors are circulating that it has nothing to do with the first two films. How can that be? I tell people that they are wrong. "Myers can't be held down, you watch...you'll see. He'll be back", I tell anyone who will listen. Even then I thought I knew everything.

Ticket time. I anxiously purchase my ticket to witness the carnage. I am impatient, waiting for the opening credits. My Popcorn was the best ever, my coke...amazing, just knowing what I was going to see heightened my senses. Life was great....for now. As the movie started, the longer it continued, the more depressed I got. I was mad at Tom Atkins and I hated Silver Shamrock. Trust me when I say this, Halloween III is not a bad movie at all, I actually love it. As an adult, even in my later teen years I could see how much of a fun and well made movie it was. I even love Tom Adkins now. It was bad to a 13 yr old who was expecting Michael Myers. My disappointed was obvious, I went to school and complained about how I was tricked without a treat. Luckily, I had my own copies of Halloween and Halloween II now. Which at the time was a rarity. VHS prices to buy were like $75 each and they didn't have "used" copies. I used my "Uncle" to get my own secret stash. I had to have them. I needed them.

Going into High School, some things changed but not a lot. Every girl I brought home had to listen to my love for Zombie films and would discuss the debate between Fulci or Romero. Clive Barker was making waves amongst the horror underground. Stephen King was getting more films made. Horror was good. I was even getting bootlegs of Underground Horror and the latest Godzilla films. Fangoria was my bible, well that and the Apter mags.

The middle Eighties was such a crazy time for horror and music for me. Music was being taken over by Hair bands and the London groups and the Horror genre just exploded with tons of movies like Day of the Dead, Nightmare on Elm Street 2, Re-Animator, Return of the Living Dead to name a few. The home video market was booming. At this point everyone's family owned a VCR. I had ample supplies of horror to get me through each day and frankly, each night. Late nights of multiple viewings of CHUD, Chopping Mall, Night of the Creeps and Children of the Corn were plentiful. I had given up on my childhood love for Michael Myers. Freddy had taken over. Being tortured in your nightmares was the new trend. Jason Voorhees was gaining momentum and catching his stride. Pinhead was just outrageous and I was loving it. As far as I was concerned Myers was a great memory. He was dead and buried. It was over, or so I thought.

Going into my senior year was a mixture of fear, excitement and cannibalism. Ok, I am kidding about the cannibalism, but my high school years weren't much different than anyone else. Prom, work and parties and some studying. Reading my trusty Fangoria, I was hyped that Halloween 4 :The Return of Michael Myers had begun production. On the set pictures proved that Michael would indeed be making his triumphant return to Haddonfield, IL.

How would they do it? I mean after all Michael Myers was burned alive. Would Dr. Loomis still be giving chase? Would the "Evil" make it's presence known?? So many questions for this young fan boy of horror to digest. Jason Voorhees had already taken over the plots of "coming back" and doing so had created a sequel machine, so I knew that there was many ways to attack the Myers story.

October 28th, in 1988 I made my way to see Halloween 4 on opening night. The theater was packed, which I hate by the way. People don't know how to be quite and I needed to concentrate when watching this, I needed to live this moment. I had some friends with me all speculating about the body counts, the death and what Myers will do. The lights dimmed in the theater and a hush came over the crowd as the opening scenes started. I really love the opening sequences in this film, the scenes of October are captured and the story is tied up instantly. "You never get used to the faces...never" is already raising my anxiety level to it's highest peak. Myers hits the screen and the eerie "theme music" is loudly chiming through the theaters accoustics. Less than five minutes into the action, Myers is back and the slayings have begun. For the next hour and a half I was amazed, happy and a little let down.

The Myers characters overall look in part 4 is where the downward spiral began, at least for me. The mask, which was originally a Captain Kirk (William Shatner) replica was now gone. Replaced by a cheap imitation with more hair and more expression that just never cut it with me. The Myers walk had changed, George Wilbur did a decent job and was the first to play Myers in two films (Parts 4 & 6), but he lacked the thinner build, the sleaker style of stalking and the overall appearance that both Warlock and Castle possessed in the first two films. I am being picky, but I am allowed, this was my all time favorite horror series, so being critical is perfectly fine.

This time around, Rob enlists his Wife Kim, who is not so amused nor a very big fan of Rob's passion. Things go downhill quickly once the fight escalates...this is a must see to believe. It's been quite some time since Rob Dimension has stepped into a Professional Wrestling ring anywhere. Fresh from the successful, but bloody set of "The Chainsaw Sally Show, Season 2" and gearing up for his next role along side Michael Madsen and Doug Bradley in Potent Media's "Deer Crossing", former Professional Wrestling Manager, Rob Dimension left a short, yet blunt message for Curt Lemon, relations manager for Pro Wrestling WORLD-1, stating "I have some unfinished business there!"

As some know, Dimension is a known trouble maker on the outside of the squared circle, Lemon had this too add "Things still smell like Dimension in this locker room..he is trouble and a loud mouth. Sly Stetson has been working for Dimension most recently and I can only imagine what they both could do to our company." While our calls to Dimension went unanswered, his agent did send us a very simple message "My client is less than happy with what he see's, you can read into that any way you want."

Steve Corino has been very quiet in this matter. While Corino and Dimension have had a very on again/off again friendship, I can only imagine that Corino is a bit worried that his son, Colby does face Rob Dimension Enterprises representatives, Sly Stetson's Andy "Right Leg" Ridge in addition to Bobby Dempsey which could easily be one of the younger Corino's biggest matches yet.

What does the future hold? Who can anyone trust these days? It all gets put on the line THIS SUNDAY:

My Weekend with Sally

When you are asked, "Hey Rob, do you mind if we give you a Chainsaw enema?", what really, is the right response? My response, after being asked by Forbidden Pictures Head Mastermind, JimmyO, was simply...."Yes Sir".

Forbidden Pictures are the people behind the amazing popular web series, Chainsaw Sally, that stars JimmyO's lovely Wife, April Monique Burril as the lead. Sprinkle in people like Debbie Rochon and oh, lala we have ourselves some serious "too hot for TV" stuff. The Chainsaw Sally show is everything that Horror fans want and love...Blood, Boobs and fun.

Librarian by day, Sally sets out with her brother Ruby to rid the town of Portville of the scum....mix in some hot chicks, funny punch lines and an array of characters and you have this perfect blend! Now that I have been to Porterville, I can truly say it's like Disneyland for Horror geeks like myself!

I was fortunate, I'm assuming due to JimmyO being extremely drunk one night, to be asked to be a cast member for Season 2 of the Chainsaw Sally Show. My character is Roving Reporter for the Baltimore News Team...Dirk Buttwise...yes, you read that correctly, Dirk Buttwise. Seeing the writing on the wall that I was going to be given a somewhat fun, goofy role, I was more than eager...then the "oh, by the way...Sally will be giving you a Chainsaw Enema" line shortly followed...after laughing out loud...I was all aboard for the craziness express.

So, without giving away every little detail...Dirk gets a bit too nosey and happens to be in the wrong place (the Woods) at the wrong time (when Sally is near) and next thing I know...I'm on the ground, Sally straddling me..while in a very un-manly way, I beg for forgiveness and simply think she should "let me go". Sally is not a big fan of Dirk...but likes his ass...well, in a way where something is missing from it...A CHAINSAW!!! Poor Dirk dies in such unique way that Horror fans should really enjoy and will hopefully remember.

Back to reality, I figure since I just gave you a bit of a run down I wanted to talk more about the Behind the Scenes (yes..an ass Pun). At first the weekend was a bit in jeopardy due to an extreme heatwave the East Coast was dealing with, with a projected Heat Index of 115 we pushed things back to wait for the heat to break, even a bit. I got the call that production was moving forward, needless to say, I was very excited.

The heat by the time I arrived in Porterville was still a whooping 110 degrees, but I think everyone, even though we just sweat profusely, was happy with the final outcome. We arrive at the location, and I notice that the crew is stabbing at the wooded/High grass area...so I ask "what are you guys doing?", JimmyO quickly responds with "Checking for snakes"....I'm sorry..what?? After being consoled (I openly wept), April and myself went over our dialogue while the crew was blocking the shots...a few rehearsals and we were in the thick of the action.

Now, as excited as I was to have April, who was now sweaty and showing much cleavage sitting on my chest, keep in mind, her Husband is standing above me, it's 100+ degrees and I am still looking for snakes in my peripherals. Once the Special Effects came out...I could not help but smile. I have NEVER seen or (heard) so much blood on set EVER...from sprayers, to blood blasts, to guts, to anything that would be inside my ass was unleashed onto poor April.

Let me say this - JimmyO, April and EVERYONE I worked with and met from the Forbidden Pictures Family was the best. I can't thank them all enough...they made me feel like a old friend this weekend. They constantly checked on me, made everyone feel at home and were just off the charts....and as far as I'm concerned...I am at their beckon call..seriously. I can not stress enough to people, these guys are serious about what they do, they care...they are not just talking about it..they are DOING it and getting results!!

I am eager to hear what people have to say about little ole' Dirk Buttwise once the Season kicks off, which I believe will be sometime in August. This season has Debbie Rochon, Monique Dupree and plenty of other hotties...

We are extremely honored to be able to screen The Wrong House at our 1st group session. Shawn French and Sue Stevens were kind enough to allow us to watch their film, which just recieved distribution. We were also told, we will have give-a-aways!!! What?? Yep, you heard me....Give-a-ways!!!

The Wrong House synopsis - An isolated house in the woods looks like an easy mark to a group of friends camping in the Maine wilderness. The thieves haul away several ounces of pot and hallucinogenic mushrooms in the heist. But when the homeowners track them down, the thieves learn too late that there are some people you just shouldn't mess with... and that they picked The Wrong House.

Remember, this is a FREE event, on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 7pm. Our group will meet at Capes and Cowls Comics in Bensalem, PA. This is FREE...like horror? come join the fun.

I am happy to report that I, Rob Dimension have been cast by Christian Grillo for his new feature film titled, Deer Crossing. I'm extremely excited, I was given a small role in his last feature, Booley, which is now available on DVD (click the link and support the indies and remember, every dollar you spend helps Chris fund new films)

synopsis : Maggy Chancelor (Laura Lynn Cottrel) sets out on a road trip with her six-year-old son Cole to visit family in the Pocono Mountains. After an unexpected road detour, Maggy is forced on an unfamiliar route. Narrowly avoiding a deer on the road, Maggy and her son crash into the woods, out of the view of traffic from the road. Later that night, Maggy and her son are rescued by a man with less than admirable intentions. They are not seen for eight years.

Cole, now fourteen and the sole survivor, is brought home by retired detective Derrick Stanswood. (Christopher Mann). It is now up to Cole to tell the gruesome story of what has happened during the last eight years.

Godzilla - Built to Suit!

Godzilla - Built to Suit!

So after a near 2 week buffet of Godzilla watching, I started to try to decide what Suit I prefer. I have been concentrating on the Heisei (1980’s-98) and Millennium (1999-current) series, mostly since that is what I happened to grab.

Let’s face it, Godzilla is an Icon but his appearance has changed numerous times over the years, in recent years he has changed from white eyes to more pronounced back fins/spikes. I have become a big fan of the look of Godzilla 2000, he simply looks fierce.

Now, while the film itself lacks, the suit just seems like something that would be “possible”..yeah, yeah, I know..Godzilla is just Sci-Fi but this is the Fanboy in me. The less up-right stance, his slow paced walk, his exposed teeth…come on..this is probably what it WOULD look like if Godzilla stepped on the beach.

Rob Dimension announced to appear at Monster-Mania in Baltimore!

On Saturday, August June 4th, Rob Dimension was announced as a guest for the extremely popular Horror Convention, Monster-Mania in Baltimore. For all those expecting a major guest announcement, we apologize for the disappointment. Many even say "Who the hell is that?"

Rob Dimension who has over 10 years of being involved in Pro Wrestling as a manager, noteably as Steve Corino's sidekick in recent years, plus co-host of the popular Horror Hosting show, Late Night at the Horror Hotel and recently finished filming his co-staring role on the Horror/Comedy film, Demon Hunters, made it a point to say "I always laugh when they announce me as a guest. I can hear the crickets and moans as people see my name." It was also announced that Dimension will have a role in the upcoming season of the popular, Cult favorite, Chainsaw Sally show.

When asked what Dimension will be doing at the con, Dimension said "I will be hosting an event or two, Monster-mania is my home. I have attended since #2 and I am so proud to see them closing in on #20 soon, Dave does a trememndous job and puts on a GREAT convention experience. I will have a table for Saturday and plan on telling very bad jokes, selling inferior products and doing my best to alienate myself from the other guests." Anyone that knows Rob, knows that is probably the truth.

Dimension's City Stomping Double Issue Godzilla Review!!

Originally, I set out to write about Issue #1, but having the first 2 issues within my grasp, I decided to go for the “Dimension’s City Stomping Double Issue Godzilla Review”…ok, maybe I should rethink the title…not exactly a winner.

I am a HUGE Godzilla nerd, in fact, I’m a HUGE Daikaiju (Giant Monster) film nut, I always have been. In order to not show how obsessed I really am, let’s just talk Godzilla comics. Now, for years Godzilla has found a home in comics through Marvel and Dark Horse comics…and quite honestly, in my opinion, they were never really that good. Being a fan of Godzilla, yes even sitting through the American version (insert moan and groan) and the Hanna Barbera "Godzooky" show, I always felt that just seeing Godzilla destroy cities and fight second rate foes was, underwhelming. The main reason, for me, at least was the lack of real, serious threatening Godzilla foes...like King Ghidorah, Mothra...even Rodan.

Dealing with TOHO has got to be tough, but somehow, IDW Publishing pulled it off. IDW Publishing, who I always think did the Angel series some justice but really did some amazing stuff with the Transformers series. Plus, they released 30 Days of Nights, GI Joe and a few others...visit http://www.idwpublishing.com/ for more info on all the titles! The newest Godzilla comic book series promises to be FULL our favorite Godzilla foe.

So let’s dive in to the review:

Godzilla – Kingdom of Monsters #1

For the premier issue, IDW decided to reboot the Godzilla storyline that we are all so familiar with. I actually like this choice; it allows the writers to put certain twists on the Legend of Godzilla. So far we, for the 1st issue, see children being eaten (always brings a smile to my face…haha…my Therapist isn’t a fan), Japan dropping Nuclear weapons on the “Big G” causing Godzilla to now have Atomic breath and plenty of the line “You have got to be F&*King kidding me”.

Big fan so far…slow paced, the Godzilla (for other nerds wondering) is based on the Millennium Godzilla and his is drawn: Fierce. Like I said, so far so good…obviously the further we get into a story, the more we will see how the opening holds up.

Grade B+ - I really enjoyed the fast pace, the look of Godzilla and the surrounding story. The panic and the reboot I am really hopeful for.

Smart Moves!! - The Marketing by IDW for Issue #1 was amazing. They released an offer to retailers that, if the retailer purchased 500 copies of Issue #1, they would give that retailer an EXCLUSIVE variant cover with Godzilla squashing their retail location. Now, my opinion, the timing for this was great....they planned this around Free Comic Book Day allowing retailers, if they desired to hand these out as an advertisement. IDW in the process released over a Whopping 100 Variant covers!! Go collectors get those...haha..plus, IDW added to the print run of an additional 37,000 issues to be out there. Extremely smart marketing on IDW's part. I know, for a FACT, if I still had my retail store...I would have been all over this one!

Issue #2

Ok, now we are getting somewhere...This issue we see Godzilla getting governments all over the world, very nervous...but that's not it...we also see the arrival of Rodan and Anguirus. Rodan is hatched out of an egg from a Russian museum and Anguirus rolls (literally) through Mexico! The story is more action based so far...we see a comical Father of the children from issue #1 becoming a human bomb, who launches himself at Godzilla...only to come off more like a small firecracker...Who else will show up?? How can they stop the Attack of the Monsters??? Gotta keep grabbing them to find out!

Grade B+ - if you are waiting for an A, keep waiting until we see some Monster on Monster destruction. So far so good...I would recommend it...but I think the story is gonna need to pick up shortly.
